I’m not really political in any way, I’m apolitical. But I’ve recently noticed that I might have some tendencies that are considered conservative, Independent, and liberal. And so I’m not really a leftist or a rightist. Maybe I’m a centrist, a moderate. I prefer the label “political Independent,” or just unaffiliated.
I tend to think both rightists and leftists are correct, more or less. And in terms of economics and its role in society; it’s not about either self-sufficiency or social welfarism. Any healthy society needs both. I tend to think that self-reliance weighs a bit more heavily on the scale, since that is the end goal of social welfarism. Social welfarism tries to steer people towards self-reliance; a hand up and not just a handout. And so I’m all for a financially stable, independent populace–just like I’m all for helping those who need help. Social welfare.
At the end of the day, I really do leave the state of humanity to Allah s.w.t. He is responsible for humanity just as much as we are. And I think I’m a bit more interested in those who are socially marginalized and ostracized—and verbally, physically, and psychologically mistreated—more so than I’m interested in the issues of poverty or politics, or anything like that. I don’t really care about politics; I don’t even know what that is. And as for poverty; it’s been here since time immemorial, and it’s one of the most highlighted issues politically, culturally, academically, and societally. Let’s end it, sure. Let’s make sure everyone has the resources to live a decent life. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s not controversial.

I’m interested in disability studies, special education, mental illness/health, trauma narratives, familial problems, and problems of loneliness and isolation, and similar things. I’m all for the freedom of oppressed people around the world, and I’m all for economic and social justice. But I’m just simply not that interested in politics or public affairs, or anything like that. Certain events in my life have led me to where I am today, and it’s plenty interesting, it’s enough to keep me occupied//busy. I might not change the world, but if I can change enough negative circumstances for one person, that’s enough for me. Allah is enough for me, alhamdulillah. I mean, I think a lot of us people of faith—of devout religious faith—we’re not of this world. “What have I to do with this worldly life? In regards to this life, I am like a wayfarer who stops for a short while, and then goes on his way.” -Hadith.
